Where once stood the Defense Agency headquarters was transformed in 2007 into “Tokyo Midtown.”(東京ミッドタウン) With direct access from exit 8 at the Roppongi Station on the Toei Oedo Line, it is very conveniently located. This complex consists of housing, hospitals, parks, hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton, the Suntory Museum of art, and 130 shops and restaurants. Many would say this is the ideal city for residents and tourists. They also have seasonal events, such as the cherry blossom celebration in the spring, and a winter Christmas celebration.

The Shopping and restaurant area “Galleria” offers a multitude of choices. Regardless if you are looking for a special occasion restaurant, a casual restaurant, or takeaway outlets you will find it very conveniently here. It is also is rich in seasonal events, such as in the spring the someiyoshino cherry tree celebration. They have about 150 cherry trees that bloom. There is a special outdoor lounge to observe the cherry blossoms. They also have one of the biggest ice rinks in the winter. These make for Tokyo Midtown’s being one of the best date spots in Tokyo!

Christmas season every year begins a real competition for the best illumination throughout Tokyo. Tokyo Midtown is one of the most popular spots. In 2015 they placed lights from the main entrance to the main hall lawn square. This area lined with trees and plants are decorated with LED lights. The 180,000 lights captivated people who visited so the popularity and a number of visitors are expected to grow every year.

If you combine Tokyo Midtown and Hinoki-Cho Park which is located on the East side of Tokyo Midtown the greenery will account for 40 percent of the area. Tokyo Midtown is divided into 4 areas the “Highland Spring Water zone”, the”Mountain Stream zone”, the “Forest Edge zone” and the “Lawn Square zone.” The design incorporates traditional styles of a Japanese garden with a concept of “harmony with nature.” It is a modern resting place that attracts many tourists every day.
